This study is staged in a courtroom setting. Jesus is on trial. He is accused of blasphemy because He said He was the Son of God, even God. John, the author of the gospel, is the defense attorney. The accusers of Jesus are the prosecution. The themes throughout the Gospel of John are seen here as witnesses. John brings these witnesses before the court to disclaim the blasphemy charge, proving instead that He indeed is the Son of God.
